Beyond Breaking Glass... History: from the beginning

In 1998, Hazel had a very successful two week run at the Edinburgh festival
with her excellent one woman show "Beyond Breaking Glass.  Written by
Hazel and Kathrina Shine and starring Hazel and harpist Cormac De Barra,
the show was described as "A songwriter's turbulent journey through the
rough and tumble world of rock.  From a teenage runaway in Amsterdam
through the overnight success of cult movie Breaking Glass to a Celtic
rediscovery and beyond. A story told through voice and harp."

Hazel and Cormac returned to the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2000
accompanied by African percussionist Mário N'Goma. The new show
was packed with more songs and stories and it was a total sell-out.
It also got a 5 star review in 'The Scotsman'.

They returned again August 2001 to give three special performances
of Beyond Breaking Glass at Komedia's Edinburgh venue, 'Southside'
in the heart of the city.

Several successful tours of England, including a three night stand
at the 2002 Glastonbury Festival, on-going shows in Ireland, two tours
of the Netherlands, shows in Germany, a tour of Australia, shows in
the US. With loads of wonderful reviews - where next? Oh yes, Italy,
and maybe even Japan and France! - INVITE US - Hazel wants to visit you!

The success of Beyond Breaking Glass, led to an album called
BEYOND THE BREAKING GLASS now available on the Invisible Hands Music
label, in England and Ireland along with some re-issues (
see our LINKS page for details).

A new show called Torch To Flame followed in 2003 and in 2004 Hazel
started to work with a full on electric band - The Subterraneans and
Billy Davidson and a dvd called Eighth Day - Live In Brighton followed
(can be bought from www.thesubs.co.uk and click on The Shop). Along
side this, she has been continuing the acoustic work with Cormac De Barra,
writing a book, recording and promoting the new HIDDEN HEART album
and working on a project with Martin Rushent who produced her album
Smile, along with Neil O'Connor back in the day. Life is very busy
for Ms. O'Connor
