Hazel O'Connor Bluja Tour Update
News date: 12 May 2011

Hello Everyone,

Just writing to you from Ireland as I have a few days in my own home on a little break from the Bluja tour.

Firstly thank you to everyone who has supported this tour which has so far gone very well and I'm really looking forward to the next gig in Boston Lincolnshire on the 19th May and my home town, Coventry on the 20th May which is fast selling out so get your tickets a.s.a.p if you intend coming.

Bluja are doing our first festival of this year on 21st May at the Acoustic Festival of Britain at Uttoxeter Racecourse, Staffordshire.

In June I am catching a boat to France the very next day to do some DIY therapy on my place in France and to have a bit of time to myself as I haven't really got my head around Mum not being here anymore. At the risk of repeating myself, if something funny happens, I think "she'll find that amusing I'll ring her to tell her" and then I remember I can't, she's not at the end of a phone anymore and I get very sad. Last week when I came in on the boat to Anglesy, the day after the Royal Wedding, the girls who work on the boat were saying that Prince William and Kate were to live just outside Holyhead and how pretty the beaches were by there. So I thought "I'll go to the beach there for a while cos I may as well have a nice sunny day at the seaside and drive to Coventry after the day is done". Normally I'd be racing off the boat to get to Coventry as soon as poss to be with Mum before she falls asleep. It dawned on me last Saturday that there's no mad rush to get to Mum's anymore. Of course, I'd rather be racing off to be with her than a day at the beach but she isn't here anymore and I'm gutted.

Last week, I performed at the Dusty Springfield tribute night in aid of Macmillan nurses at the Royal Albert Hall - it was a terrific experience. Having a whole orchestra behind me was an amazing feeling. I met some lovely people that night: Carol Decker was there and I haven't seen her since we did the Re-Joyce single last November; Boy George was as fabulous and friendly as ever; Mica Paris - what great voice she has; Julie Felix who is a sweet lady; Leee John of Imagination looked fantastic and was on great form - the whole thing was all such fun, lovely people involved...

The next day was our Bluja London gig at Leicester Square Theatre and we had a special surprise for the audience as 30 people from the Cambria Choir (Sarah's project) joined the Bluja Project for 3 songs and it all sounded sooooo good. So big thanks to Sarah and Lucy who is conductor and co-founder with Sarah, and to all the choir, you were brilliant! I think we'll do some more choir stuff in time, maybe near Christmas.

Anyway gotta go, see you in Boston, Lincolnshire on the 19 May or ???...

Till we meet again
Love from Hazel x
