Myton Nurse Appeal
News date: 31st October 2011

I was at the BBC today to give my support to the Myton Hospices Nurse Appeal. This appeal is being organised by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire to raise funds for more nurses. Each new nurse will care for 43 extra patients. My mum Joyce spent time at Myton Hospice for respite. They cared for her wonderfully and i will be forever grateful.

You can read more about it at the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire website.

Please help me help the Myton Nurse Appeal. Every little helps. Why not get a copy of CD single "Re-Joyce"? It's for a great cause and wonderful stocking filler for Christmas...

Chasing Cars
24th October 2011

Hello everyone!

When mum was ill I heard the Subterraneans sound checking this beautiful song - Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. The lyrics express exactly how I feel and are very close to my heart. My parisian friends and I went out on a guerilla video shoot in Paris. Below is the result of our adventure. Enjoy.

Newsletter from Ireland
News date: 8th October 2011

Hello everyone!

Very excited about the upcoming tour with Clare Hirst and Sarah Fisher aka the Bluja Project and our upcoming release of the new album "I Give You My Sunshine".

After much umming and ahhing about what to call this album we were so glad someone suggested "I Give You My Sunshine" as that track on the album has a particular meaning and portent for me. I wrote the lyrics for it last Christmas in Myton Hospice Coventry where my mum was staying.

There was a big snow blizzard and we were trying to smile and make the best of our special final times together. Whilst mum slept, I went outside her room and built a snowman so she could see him when she woke. She named him Harry and we laughed and enjoyed our time together. That is the message of that song because none of us know what our futures hold, but if we give each other our sunshine and make every moment count then we have really lived and really loved....

Thinking of those last precious weeks with Joyce my mum reminds me to remind you to download again and get other people to download the Rejoyce single from the Hazel O'Connor Collective. It features Toyah Willcox, Carol Decker, Pauline Black, Vince Hill, Ranking Roger, Neville Staples, The Subterraneans, Bob Brolly, Clare Hirst, Sarah Fisher, Kid Creole, Cormac De Barra, Eamon de Barra, Moya Brennan, and my brother Neil.

All the proceeds go to Myton hospice and Help the Hospices, so please support it. Hospice is such a wonderful place to help ease the terminally ill's final journey with kindness and dignity....

See you all on tour this October and November,

Love from Hazel x

Who's Calling Christian Big in the 80s
News date: 6th October 2011

Hello everyone!

Just to let you all know that I called Christian O'Connell this morning on Absolute Radio to take part in his "big in the 80s competition". I need to get on the short list of 5 in order to be in the running to win £5k for Myton Hospices. Please help me and Myton by going to this link and adding a comment.

If I get through to the short list, I then need you all to vote for me and Myton. Voting will be open between 10am Fri 7th Oct 2011 & 8am Mon 10th Oct on the Absolute Radio website.

As you know Myton cared for my mum and so this charity is very close to my heart. Please help and thanks to everyone for your support.
