Its been quite a long time since my last newsletter. As the summer draws to a close in the
northern hemisphere and the leaves on the trees start to turn wonderful colours of red, yellow and
orange, I have been reflecting long and hard about this roller coaster of a year.
There have been many highs as well as lows. Many so dear to me have departed and I miss them
all deeply. There have been many changes in my work too, change of management and the multitude of
other things that it entails. Thankfully, I have this wonderful job which I love and which keeps me
busy and what a busy next few months that will be.
Those of you that managed to catch the spring tour will already be aware that there is a new
album with Clare Hirst and Sarah Fisher. It is called "I give you my sunshine" and will be out the
24th of October. I believe that it is already available on presale at many different outlets.
I have an exciting gig planned with Cormac de Barra in Dublin. It is my only date in Ireland
this year so I am really looking forward to that. Then there is the autumn tour with Clare and Sarah
to promote the album. I love working with the gals, its always a great pleasure to tour with them.
We have such a good time and we've come such a long way from when we started our Bluja project. It is
always great to see and meet you all too!
There is a little video that some of you may have seen with us doing our thing! Some of it
was shot at our Paris gigs last September and some is from the Blondes on Fire tour in Spring. This
is the link.
That brings me onto another thing I need you all to know. As you are reading this you will know
that this is a brand new website as the old one has been very strange lately. No explanation has been
forth coming and so I have enlisted some friends that are far more cyber-savvy than me to help. Of
course, its still early days but its continually being updated and tweaked. All the tour and new album
info are here so hope you like it!
They are also helping me with my facebook and twitter pages and showing me how to be a top class
twitterer and facebooker. As you probably know, they have got quite a handful if they think they'll
cure my aversion to computers! Give me a wheelbarrow of cement and a shovel anytime! I'm much happier
hands on diy-ing than virtual dabbling any day, but I am trying – honestly!
After the tour I will be doing some projects on the Re-joyce single for Christmas but more
about that next time.
Hope you are all well and look forward to seeing you in a few weeks time!
Love from Hazel x
NEW ALBUM "I give you my Sunshine"
News date: 7th September 2011
Hello everyone!
We've decided on doing something a bit different for the artwork on the new album and it will
now be extended to a full 16 page booklet. While we were sifting through extra photos to include in it,
we came up with an idea where we need YOUR help as we would love to include some quotes from
YOU in the booklet too!
So this is your chance to show us and the world your journalistic skills. We want you to choose
your favourite song from us gals (Sarah, Clare and I), especially tracks from this new album which we
showcased on the spring tour, and tell us why you like it. The winning entries will be printed in the
cd booklet along with your name and town.
Go to the Mailing List page, fill out the form and in the comments section write COMPETITION :
the name of the song, and then decribe in about 15 words why you like it.
With deadlines running extremely tight we need your entries in by midnight on Sunday.
The winners will be announced by next Thursday.
